Day 1: Arrival in Leh & Acclimatization

Upon landing at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, a private transfer will take you to your hotel in Leh. Given the region’s high altitude, it’s essential to take it easy on your first day to acclimatize.

  • Rest at the hotel to adjust to the altitude.
  • In the evening, take a slow stroll around Leh Market for a feel of local life.

Leh Dining: Enjoy a light meal at your hotel featuring local delicacies such as thukpa and momos or you can visit Fort Road for a lot of good options.

Leh Accommodation: You can Stay in a boutique hotel or traditional Ladakhi homestay in Leh for an authentic experience or a comfortable hotel with scenic mountain view

Day 2: Leh Monastery Tour

After breakfast, explore the spiritual and cultural heritage of Leh:

  • Thiksey Monastery – Known for its resemblance to the Potala Palace in Lhasa.
  • Shey Palace & Monastery – The former summer capital of Ladakh.
  • Hemis Monastery – The largest and wealthiest monastery in Ladakh.
  • Shanti Stupa – A white-domed stupa offering panoramic views of Leh.

Day 3: Excursion to Magnetic Hill & Sangam

Take a scenic drive along the Leh-Srinagar Highway:

  • Magnetic Hill – Experience the optical illusion of vehicles defying gravity.
  • Sangam – The confluence of the Zanskar and Indus Rivers.
  • Gurudwara Pathar Sahib – A sacred Sikh shrine nestled in the mountains.
  • Hall of Fame Museum – Dedicated to Indian soldiers who served in the region.

Return to Leh in the evening.

Day 4: Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung La (160 km, 5-hour drive)

After an early breakfast, drive to Nubra Valley via Khardung La, one of the highest motorable passes in the world (18,380 ft).

  • Diskit Monastery – Famous for the 32-meter Maitreya Buddha statue.
  • Hunder Sand Dunes – Enjoy a double-humped Bactrian camel ride in the desert amidst snow-capped mountains.

Dining: Try local Ladakhi thukpa and butter tea at homestays or small cafes in Diskit and Hunder.

Day 5: Exploring Nubra Valley

Spend the day exploring the scenic beauty and culture of Nubra Valley:

  • Sumur Village & Samstanling Monastery – Experience traditional Ladakhi village life.
  • Panamik Hot Springs – Natural sulphur hot springs with therapeutic properties.
  • Visit the Yarab Tso Lake, a hidden gem near Sumur.

Day 6: Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake via Shyok Route (275 km, 6-hour drive)

After breakfast, embark on a stunning drive to Pangong Lake via the Shyok River route. This route offers breathtaking views of rugged mountains and river valleys.

  • Arrive at Pangong Lake (14,270 ft), famous for its ever-changing shades of blue.
  • Explore the lake’s surroundings and relax by the serene waters.

Madurai Accommodation: Stay in lakeside camps or eco-resorts for an unforgettable night by the lake.

Day 7: Pangong Lake Exploration & Leisure

Spend a full day exploring the pristine beauty of Pangong Lake:

After breakfast, drive back to Leh via Chang La Pass (17,586 ft), the third highest motorable road in the world.

  • Stop at Tso Ltak Lake and Tangtse Village en route for scenic photo ops.
  • Visit Stok Palace Museum if time permits, showcasing Ladakhi royal heritage.

Return to Leh for a relaxed evening.

Day 9: Exploring Leh’s Hidden Gems

Discover some lesser-known but equally stunning places around Leh:

  • Leh Palace – A 17th-century former royal palace with panoramic views of the city.
  • Spituk Monastery – Known for its collection of ancient masks and Buddhist artifacts.

Day 10: Day Trip to Tso Moriri Lake (220 km, 6-hour drive)

Take a full-day excursion to Tso Moriri, a pristine high-altitude lake located in the Changthang Plateau.

  • Visit Korzok Monastery, one of the highest monasteries in Ladakh.

Return to Leh by late evening.

Day 11: Leisure Day in Leh

  • Optional river rafting on the Zanskar River (seasonal).
  • Explore local markets for last-minute shopping.

Day 12: Departure from Leh

Transfer to Leh Airport for your onward journey, carrying memories of the majestic landscapes and spiritual tranquility of Ladakh.
